CJAM 99.1 FM is hiring for four IGNITE Work Study positions for the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters!
1. Social Media and Engagement Coordinator
Our Social Media and Engagement Coordinator will strategize and implement a plan for consistently posting across all of CJAM’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, our WordPress newsfeed, and YouTube).
Duties:
– Monitor CJAM’s social media channels and post on them consistently, sharing content and promoting existing CJAM programs, initiatives, and events.
– Develop and execute a social media strategy to help promote CJAM’s 2024 Fall Pledge Drive.
– Implement social media engagement strategies with community partners.
– Continue to nurture existing relationships with community partners and forge new relationships with community partners.
– Recruiting, training, and coaching volunteers through one-on-one sessions and small group workers to form a CJAM Street Team.
Required Skills:
– Experience with executing past social media campaigns
– Involvement in community outreach and building initiatives
– Strong organizational skills
– Ability to be a team player and thrive in both collaborative and remote working environments
– The ability to set, meet, and review goals
– Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills – Passionate about or willing to learn about the campus community radio and Windsor/Detroit’s local arts and culture scene
– Photography, Videography, Graphic Design, and knowledge of the Adobe Suite a strong asset
2. Volunteer Coordinator
The CJAM Volunteer Coordinator will recruit new UWindsor volunteers at the beginning of the September semester, work on a volunteer retention plan as well as organize volunteers for our November Pledge Drive.
Duties:
– Recruit new volunteers and work to maintain existing volunteers’ relationships with the station.
– Carrying out a “welcome back” event for existing volunteers.
– Review and organize CJAM’s current volunteer lists and systems and create a volunteer retention plan
– Hosts CJAM info and training sessions with the help of the Station Manager, Program Director and Music Director
– Coordinate orientation and policy training sessions, and provide tours of the station to new volunteers.
– Assist in coordinating station events and fundraisers, including the Annual Volunteer
Meeting and any assistance with administration work for electing members to the Board of Directors.
– Organizing volunteers to conduct Pledge Drive shows on the air and to be on stand-by when donors call the station to donate
– Collaborate with UWindsor groups and organizations to secure CJAM info booths at campus or surrounding events
– Organize volunteers and volunteer schedule for our November Pledge Drive
Required Skills:
– Experience recruiting and working with volunteers
– Ability to give thoughtful and constructive feedback
– Comfortable creating and managing organizational documents such as spreadsheets and databases
– Excellent time management skills
– Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
– Strong leadership skills
3. Advertising and Marketing Coordinator
CJAM is looking for a coordinator to maintain and build upon our current radio advertisers, source new advertising clients, and create an advertising and marketing plan for the holidays.
Duties:
– Maintain relationships with our list of advertising clients
– Source new advertisers that align with CJAM’s mission statement
– Solicit advertisers and create an advertisement schedule for our November 2024 Pledge
Drive
– Write advertising scripts and Public Service Announcements (PSA) when needed
– Record PSAs or assign PSA recordings to volunteers when necessary
– Execute our November 2024 Pledge Drive marketing plan
– Create a marketing plan for our 2024 merch for the holidays
– Source events/local businesses or cultural hubs where we can share information about our station and set up our merchandise booth

4. Graphic Designer
CJAM is looking for a candidate who is creative, and savvy in producing a range of exciting visual illustrations to help our station promote events, merchandise, programming and so much more!
Job Description:
– Produce original illustrations for CJAM staff to utilize in our newsletters, social media posts, flyers, posters, and website.
– Work with the Social Media and Engagement Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, and Advertising and Marketing Coordinator to produce materials.
– Design a new official logo for CJAM.
– Create unique graphics for the CJAM website and CJAM’s social media pages (events, designing event posters, volunteer recommendations of albums in our on-air music library, banners for social pages, etc).
What we’re looking for:
• Proficient use of Adobe Programs
• Creativity and an understanding of CJAM’s style in creating graphics for a campus community radio station
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and to collaborate with others
• Strong time management skills
• A degree/diploma/certificate in Graphic Design is a strong asset
Please provide a portfolio of your graphic design work.
All positions pay $17.30 per hour with $1,000 allocated for Fall 2024 and $1,000 for Winter 2025. Working hours will be about 57 for the Fall semester and 57 for the Winter semester. The successful candidates will work with CJAM Staff to determine a suitable weekly work schedule.
