Joe Strummer Day: Rock the Can Drive

rockthecandriveCJAM FM’s fourth annual Joe Strummer Day coming up at the end of December. One part of this radio marathon is to highlight the issue of poverty in our community. During December, we will be conducting a can drive in the lobby of CJAM to support Street Help.

Street Help is a volunteer organization helping the homeless downtown Windsor. They are food bank and daily soup kitchen. They serve hundreds of cups of coffee a day to those in need.

Throughout the month of December, bring in nonperishable food items to the CJAM lobby, like peanut butter, cereal, rice, pasta, crackers, canned fruits and vegetables, soups, sauces. They are also looking for food items with peel back tops (soups, tuna, fruit cups) to give out to those who do not have can openers or a place to cook. Street Help gives out lots of coffee, so they are looking for regular grind coffee, sugar, and whitener.

CJAM is located in the basement of the CAW Student Centre at the University of Windsor. Stop by with nonperishable food items for our can drive and we’ll show you around the station.

More info about Joe Strummer Day 2013 will be coming up soon, but until then, help us Rock The Can Drive!
