Global Friday's Showcase: Sinkane

The Global Fridays world music series returns to the Arab American National Museum this week with critically acclaimed Sudanese soul-funk band Sinkane, making their only Michigan stop on a world tour in Dearborn at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 to promote the new album Life & Livin’ It. Lead singer Ahmed Gallab was born in London and lived in Sudan as a child before moving to the U.S. where his family took political refuge. His universal music urges audiences to move, relate and embrace life. Joining him are bandmates Jaytram Ish Montgomery, Jonny Lam Elenna Canlas and Amanda Khiri. Gallab will also lead a FREE youth workshop on art and identity at 6:30 p.m., prior to his show, co-sponsored by Take on Hate. Tickets to Global Friday performances are $10 for AANM Members and $15 general public.
