All In A Day's Work presents it's Joe Strummer Day special, featuring an interview with Andrew Nellis, the former organizer and spokesperson for the Ottawa Panhandlers' Union. Tune in for stories and discussion of how one of the most marginalized groups in society come together and collectively defend themselves. In the first half of the show, Andrew speaks to the founding of the OPU and relates some of the challenges and successes of organizing street people. In the latter half, he shares two stories of OPU actions. Finally, Andrew and host Ian Clough discuss whether or not a street union would be useful in Windsor and what that might look like.
