Canadian Jam: Rosina’s Super Duper List of The Best Canadian Albums of 2015!

tobias

Tobias Jesso, Jr – Goon (Newcomer Tobias Jesso Jr had an explosive year, with not only a banger of a first album, but as a very accomplished songwriter, writing hits for Adele and Sia!)
Braids – Deep in the Iris (Never failing to disappoint, Braids return with an even more powerful album than the last. Something delicate, vivid, and raw.)
Teen Daze– Morning World (After discovering his last album ‘Glaciers’, I coudn’t wait to hear more from Vancouver’s Jamison aka Teen Daze, and his ethereal, honest songwriting.)
Mac DeMarco – Another One (‘Another One’ could be retitled ‘Salad Days, Part 2’, as it perfectly returns to where his last album left off. Chill vibes ahead!)\
Milk and Bone– Little Mourning (Montreal girl duo that really impressed me with their first release ever. Eagerly awaiting more from these two!)
Library Voices– Lovish (I love seeing this band progress musically. So much has happened to them since last year’s “For John”, but their fallbacks have translated beautifully and all is explained in the songs that make up ‘Lovish’.)
Destroyer – Poison Season (A perfect mix of delightful horn sections to piano ballads. Hard to believe his last album was released four years ago, even though Dan Bejar keeps busy with other projects.)
Yukon Blonde – On Blonde (Just the perfect mix of rocking and dancing I’ve been waiting for from these dudes.)
Beliefs – Leaper (A beautiful noisy band I wished I had gotten into much sooner, and hoping they make a tour stop in town!)
Oh No! Yoko – Pinhead’s Paradise (I like to call them Tokyo Police Club’s little brothers, because they remind me of TPC’s early sounds. An energetic album, filled with fun hooks and vocals that are hard to replicate.)
BONUS: Seoul – I Become a Shade (The soundtrack to my summer. With just one release, Seoul has become my new favourite band to watch out for.)
