Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to Motormouth—a radio show, zine, and blog dedicated to all things Detroit, both past and present. Hosted by DJ Weona Ryder (founder of Motormouth) and DJ Jomo (author of Acid Detroit), Motormouth covers the full spectrum of Detroit music every Thursday at 9 PM.
Our mission is simple: celebrate Detroit music while countering the egocentric consumption culture on social media platforms. We prioritize traditional mediums such as word of mouth, zine distribution, radio, and blogging. Our goal is to provide an anonymous platform where the focus remains squarely on the art itself, devoid of the distractions of personal identities, branding, and marketing. Detroit’s soulful sounds deserve a sanctuary safeguarded from the profit-driven, exploitative practices of those who prioritize material gain over community and artistic integrity. Detroit’s music history is an endless well of inspiring sounds and stories, and even after two years broadcasting on the airwaves, we’re just scratching the surface.
