Halloweekend at CJAM 2023

CJAM was busy this Halloweekend with a handful of exciting events all over Windsor!

Thursday, October 26 – Haunted Harvest at Villains

Kicking off our spooky celebrations was a show at Villains featuring notable Windsor musicians Mike Hargreaves and Brendan Scott Friel who were joined by a newcomer to the Windsor music scene, Nahin.

Nahin started off the show with some incredible songs of his own and finished off his set with some nostalgic covers that had the audience singing along with him. You can usually catch Nahin on Monday evenings at Phog Lounge’s open mic surgery.

Brendan Scott Friel followed with a special set with music from his latest album 2021 which recently ranked #2 on CJAM’s charts. 2021 is a heartfelt album about love and loss featuring songs Simon the Doubter and Cold Air, which were both hits at CJAM.

Closing off the show, Mike Hargreaves played a set of old and new tunes including his most recent release, Nishihama, which made its way into the CJAM charts in early October.

Overall the show was a blast! Thank you so much Nahin, Brendan and Mike for sharing your talents for the night and thank you to Villains for hosting us!

Friday, October 27 – CJAM x UWSA Pride Centre Halloween Open Mic

CJAM’s Ignite Outreach Coordinator Liv and the UWSA Pride Centre Coordinator Max teamed up for a fun night of music, talent, and community. Students had the chance to sign up to perform and we heard many lovely tunes and poems. CJAM Zine Collective also provided materials for students to craft and make zines and collage art.

The night concluded with a costume contest where students voted for their favourite Halloween look. Congratulations to Dori and Dan for winning with their Aziraphale and Crowley costumes!

Sunday, October 29 – Hallowood, Halloween Costume Party at Rock Bottom

CJAM DJs Friendly User and Dr Jekyll shared their talents with Rock Bottom for the Sandwich Towne BIA’s Hallowood, Halloween Costume Party that ended off their weekend-long Nightmare in Sandwich Towne event.

Huge thank you to our Outreach Coordinator Liv for the photos and the write-up!
