CJAM is a nonprofit campus-based community radio station. We provide music and information programming not offered by mainstream commercial media in the Windsor/Detroit area. We serve people and groups within the community who are under represented or maligned by mainstream media by allowing a forum to express their views.

We are looking for University of Windsor students for the following roles this summer:

1. Pledge Drive Coordinator

DUTIES:

– Request donations from local businesses and secure sponsorships
– Assist CJAM staff with helping organize a 2024 Pledge Drive design done by a local artist and ordering merch
– Update the Pledge Drive website and create a social media and marketing plan
– Creating an updated donor list based off of two separate pledge drive campaigns in 2023
– Work with volunteers/programmers to create a pledge drive volunteer schedule and mobilize listeners
– Assist in the preparation of thank you cards and gift mail-outs before the pledge drive
– Help plan and execute pledge drive events
– Support the Station Manager in any other Pledge Drive and Fall Student Levy related tasks

REQUIRED SKILLS:

– Must be self-motivated, well organized, and be able to take initiative independently
– Should be comfortable soliciting donations and able to maintain good relationships with sponsors
– Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. An additional language is a bonus!
– Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel) and ability to produce reports
– Should be able to motivate and work with volunteers
– Candidates should be genuinely excited and enthusiastic about representing CJAM
– A strong passion for radio and broadcasting, the role of independent campus media, and/or nonprofits

This role will be compensated at $17.30 per hour, eight hours per week for six weeks.

The Pledge Drive Assistant will be required to work the majority of their hours in person at CJAM located at 401 Sunset Avenue in Windsor, ON.

2. Live Music and Events Coordinator

We are looking for a University of Windsor student to be our Live Music and Events Coordinator this summer as part of the IGNITE Work Study program!

Job Description

– Organizing & hosting at least one in-person concert and/or recording session featuring local musicians

– Creating a social media/awareness campaign to promote the concert/session
– Organizing & hosting at least one in-person and online workshop

– Connecting with local arts organizations to seek out speakers
– Creating a weekly audio calendar outlining upcoming events

– Utilizing CJAM social media to promote any events & CJAM programming

– Creating a weekly radio program

– Attending staff meetings

– Reporting to CJAM FM’s station manager

Our ideal candidate would have the following qualifications:

– Proficient/familiar with Adobe Audition, Audacity, Garage Band, or other Digital Audio Workstation

– Experience in organizing events an asset

– Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

– Knowledge of various social media platforms

– Ability to navigate online experiences

– Ability to be flexible & creative with ideas

– Graphic design experience an asset

– Familiar with CJAM FMs programming an asset

Don’t have any broadcast/podcast experience?

We will train you because teaching radio skills is what we do!

This role will be compensated at 17.30 per hour, eight hours a week for six weeks.
