As Joe Strummer Day approaches, the Anchor, CJAM’s local news segment, will be featuring three community interviews with local wellness shelters and programs. For those interested in learning about updates and concerns from the Goodfellows Organization, Windsor Residence for Young Men, or the Windsor Youth Centre, tune in this Friday at 12:30pm.

The Anchor was brought to CJAM by the Local Journalism Initiative of Canada. If you would like to hear the individual stories, you can find them on their Frequency News website — hyperlinked below.

The Anchor’s host, Aysha Mian spoke to the incoming Goodfellows President, Brian Beaumont, about the organization and his concerns with the increasing population of those experiencing homelessness.

The Windsor Residence for Young Men’s Executive Director, Jason Weinberg, spoke about the $74’600 grant they received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and how it was able to fund crucial renovations to their residence.

Finally, Ashley Marchand, the Windsor Youth Centre’s Manager of Youth Services, spoke about her concerns with the high inflation rates and increasing need of Windsor’s youth.
