Job Posting – Special Programming and Events Coordinator (Contract)

With the support of the Community Radio Fund of Canada, CJAM 99.1 FM is seeking applicants for a Special Programming and Events Coordinator. This is a contract position that will run between June 8, 2015 and June 7, 2016 with a gross salary of $20,000 for that period based on a 30-hour work week.

The focus of the project will revolve around fully organizing CJAM’s capacity to properly plan, promote, and execute major initiatives, primarily programming initiatives. A major emphasis would be put on the Special Programming and Events Coordinator to maximize CJAM’s annual pledge drive. This would include helping to train volunteers on pledge drive, contacting and working with local businesses for pledge incentives and donations, and aiding CJAM’s social-networking capacity in terms of organizing, planning, and executing over multiple platforms. The Special Programming and Events Coordinator will also play a major role in maximizing CJAM’s attempt to get the world to listen to Joe Strummer Day to Confront Poverty in Windsor-Detroit. Now in its sixth year, Joe Strummer Day is truly a local, regional, national, and international, event, garnering a track-record of international listeners (via cjam.ca) and international media coverage. The successful candidate would also work with the Station Manager, Program Director, Music Director and local music community to hold a fundraising event during the broadcast, which would be incorporated into the broadcast. Other events and programming that the Special Programming and Events Coordinator will participate in include CJAM’s anniversary of punk music, International Women’s Day, the University of Windsor’s Move-in Day, and much more.

The intern will also be assigned to other duties as required under general direction of CJAM staff.

Qualifications:
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
• Knowledge relating to non-commercial music, news, views, culture, and campus life.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Computer and basic radio/audio production skills.
• Non-profit fundraising experience a plus.

TERMS: 30 hours per week

SALARY: $20,000 over the contract, which will run from June 8, 2015 to June 7, 2016.
