No Scrubs Notes: BELL LET’S TALK – A MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE

What is Bell Let’s Talk Day?

Bell Let’s Talk Day is an awareness campaign created by the Canadian telecommunications company, Bell Canada, in an effort to raise awareness of combat the stigma of mental health.

This annual event happening on January 26, 2022, encourages a national conversation about mental health across several social media platforms. It brings awareness to issues related to mental health that are going on in people’s lives and help end the stigma around them.

How Can I Get Involved?

On Bell let’s talk day, Bell donates 5 cents to Canadian mental health programs for every applicable tests, local or long distance call, tweet or Tiktok video using #BellLetsTalk, every Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Snapchat, Tiktok, Twitter and Youtube view of the Bell Let’s talk day video.

Outside of Bell Let’s Talk Day, it is important to keep the conversation going to end the stigma. Simple ways to implement this into your daily life include educating yourself, check in on your friends and family, using appropriate language, and be kind to everyone!

Where Do the Funds Go?

The Bell Let’s Talk Team has identified 4 pillars that they used to help move mental health forward in Canada. The 4 pillars help to not only promote awareness and education of mental health but acts on the by (1) fighting the stigma (2) improving access to care (3) financially supporting research initiatives and (4) supporting workplace safety and leadership. Bell Let’s Talk has also provided 1-million-dollar funding for post-secondary mental health initiatives for colleges and universities around Canada.
