Detroit Jazz Festival returns to Hart Plaza

The beloved Detroit Jazz Festival returns to Hart Plaza starting Friday September 2nd at 6pm and runs until Monday September 5th. Friday will open at the Carhartt Amphitheatre Stage in Hart Plaza starting at 6pm with Dr. Valde’s Brass Band, featuring Shannon Powel.

Chucho Valdes, the 2022 artist-in-residence, kicks off their residency at 7pm with the Yoruban Orchestra, Hilario Duran & John Beasley with their performance of “The Creation”. The Soul Rebels close out Friday’s show with their bright brass band sound. Hailing from New Orleans, the group always brings an energy level that is sure to be heard across the river.
