CJAM Loses Longtime DJ Tom Damceski

CJAM is mourning the loss of DJ Tom Damceski, who passed away on September 28th. Mr. Damceski was a veteran DJ in Detroit. At CJAM, we were lucky to have Damceski host Radio “Vardarski Branovi” for 11 years at CJAM (Tom started hosting RVB at CJAM back in 2012). His show focused on providing news and music from Macedonia for the Macedonian community in Windsor and Detroit.

Tomislav is survived by his loving wife Fanija Damceski of 49 years. His daughters Vicky (Christopher) Tanevski and Snezana (Mike) Ristovski. Survived by many family members in Macedonia, daughter Vesna (Pece) Arsovski and family and daughter Mirjana Damceska. Sister Gorica (Tome) and sister Jovanka (Ratko) Koceva and their families.

Tom moved to Canada on April 28, 1974 and resided in Windsor. He was in the military in Macedonia as a young man, and also studied to be a machinist. He took the knowledge he learned there and was employed at Ford Motor Company for over 25 years, retiring in 2002. He deeply loved his family, friends and community, especially the Macedonian community. He was the President and general manager of St. Nicholas Macedonian Orthodox Church and Community Centre for many years, all on a volunteer basis. He found joy in music and hosted the radio show Radio Vardarski Branovi for over 25 years. His superpower was transporting listeners directly to Skopje.
