Baby, it’s cold in here! CJAM Soft Close This Week

Hey CJammers!

Last week there was a fire alarm and we had to evacuate the CAW for some time on Thursday. A pipe burst due to the cold temperatures and there was a minor flood on the other side of the basement. We’ve heard that more pipes have burst over the weekend and that the heat is still not working properly in the CAW. The building is open, but we have found that it is quite cold in our offices.

We have decided to have a “Soft Close” this week. 

This will avoid:

• Staff shivering in offices
• Work interruptions if the fire alarm goes off and we have to evacuate 

For programmers doing live or pre-recorded:

• We’ve found that the studios are still quite warm
• If you are pre-recording your show, we recommend booking an extra hour or two in case more pipes burst and you have to evacuate

Office hours:

• The station and offices will be closed to non-recording volunteers
• All staff are still permitted to use the premises to work, but please know that it is cold down there
• All staff will be responding to emails and messages during regular office hours
