January 2026

A monthly spotlight on Windsor–Detroit artists selected by CJAM’s Music Department.

What is Singles Club?
Each month we share a selection of singles from Windsor and Detroit artists. It’s a snapshot of what’s happening in our community right now, highlighting music we’re excited to put on your radar.
Stream the playlist or grab the MP3s below. If you’re an artist with a new single, please use
this form to send it our way for next month’s consideration.

This month’s edition features a handful of local releases I’ve been spending time with. They move across different sounds, but all share an easy confidence and a strong sense of mood. Nothing here feels rushed, which makes these tracks easy to keep coming back to. Glad to be sharing these this month!

1. River Honey — “Black Crows”

Rock/Alternative
Windsor
“On their debut album Ultraviolet, the band blends gritty, guitar-driven rock with melodic warmth, drawing from 1990s alternative influences while carving out a sound that feels both raw and reflective.” – River Honey

2. Patrick Henry — “Southern Weather”

Country/Pop Punk
Windsor

Released back in November, singer-songwriter Patrick Henry’s latest record, Nothing Gold Can Stay, threads country and pop-punk together with an ease that captures the emotional range of both, landing somewhere honest and confessional without ever feeling heavy-handed.

3. kitjohari — “Avalon”

Electronic
Windsor

Drawing on the loose, jazzy, and playful spirit of MPC-era instrumental hip-hop, like J Dilla or Madlib, and folding it into a groovy, future-funk-leaning palette, kitjohari shows a clear fluency in the art of sampling while keeping things light on their feet and forward-looking.

4. Brown Paper Bag — “Twilight Zone”

Garage Punk
Detroit

Detroit-based artist Gregory James Wyrick has built a reputation for gritty, genre-blurring work, and his latest single, “Twilight Zone”, from the early January release, Divine Violence: The Basement Tapes, channels an awesome garage punk vibe that feels both raw and unrelenting.

5. Twïnn — “Rondo Indie”

Electronic/Synth Pop
Detroit

“Racer Hex is a collection of late-night transmissions. Songs shaped by motion, memory, and the strange calm that follows momentum. Drawing from retro-future aesthetics, synth-driven indie, and dream-pop atmospheres, Twïnn blends analog warmth with modern restraint, creating music that feels both familiar and slightly out of time.” – Twïnn

6. chandra — “you know i’m not perfect”

Dream Pop
Detroit

On their December release, thoughts on agape, Detroit’s Chandra explore lush, lo-fi bedroom and dream-pop aesthetics, pairing silky-smooth guitar and vocals into a genuinely beautiful chill pill.

7. Secondary Dominants — “baggy jeans”

Pop/Rock
Windsor

On “baggy jeans,” Windsor’s Secondary Dominants keep things clean and jangly, led by bright guitar riffs and an easy confidence that fits their “HOTTEST BOY BAND IN SOUTHWEST ONTARIO” line. It’s one I keep coming back to.
