Wardell ‘DJ Dell’ Huot

We are saddened to announce the passing of one of our own, Wardell Jerome Huot ‘DJ Dell’ was a radio broadcaster for over twenty years including his time with CJAM hosting ‘The Urban Flow.’ We thank him for sharing his voice, his musical knowledge and his love for radio. We have lost a great voice over the airwaves of Windsor and Detroit. Many of our volunteers have fond memories of his show and his contributions to the station over the years. Our heartfelt condolences to his family and those closest to him. The obituary from the family follows below.

August 24, 1977 – February 10, 2026

A Life Well Lived

Dell started his journey home on February 10, 2026 at LHSC University Hospital in London, Ontario, in the arms of his wife Jylian.

Born on August 24, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan and was the adopted son of Harry and Velma Huot. Son of Wardell Sr. and Lisa Stewart.

He will be remembered for his gift of gab, his smooth radio voice and the remarkable knowledge of both local and history in general.

What Mattered

Dell loved time with his family, whether it was long drives to nowhere, or quick trips for sweets.

Dell had a passion for music and radio. He hosted a show on CJAM Radio for over 20 years.

A Final Note

Our family gives our heartfelt thank yous to everyone who sat with us, comforted us and helped us during the hardest time in our lives. Your kindness and generosity have let us catch our breath as we navigate our lives without Dell.

Volunteers do a lot at CJAM

Every time you tune in at 99.1 FM you’re hearing a volunteer on the air. Volunteers also help by maintaining our enormous music library, writing radio scripts, producing public service announcements, interviewing cool artists, reviewing music, helping out at festivals & events, updating our social media, and so much more!
