Compliments – “Stay”

Windsor’s own Compliments is back with another driving single entitled “Stay.” Ian’s signature production is like an aural funhouse mirror that grooves like a horror flick. The catchy melodies float over the beats in this danceable number.

Inoke Errati – “I Am The Chorus”

Inoke Errati (pronounced “I know karate”) returns with their first musical offering since their 2011 EP “Makeouts and Movie Stars.” Rocking out since 2006, these guys are celebrating their 20th anniversary with “Self-powered | Suboptimal” – the new EP released July 31st. Focusing on themes of mental illness/neurodivergence and general life struggles, this release is high-energy, packed with catchy hooks, and reminiscent of 90s pop-punk all the way – the lead single “I Am The Chorus” is a good place to start.

Twin Arrows – “Attraction/Distraction”

Fresh off their recent full album release “Lead X Gold” (which has appeared consistently on the CJAM charts over the past few weeks), Twin Arrows’ latest offering is a live studio recording that explores the compelling tension of a slow and steady build. This full-band improvisation captures the project’s signature sultry and unhurried sound, taking inspiration from the musical language of artists like Fela Kuti and John Coltrane, with a Detroit rock sensibility and a subtly addictive melody. This track also sees the project expand its instrumentation from a guitar/drums duo to include lyrical trumpet, piano and bass. Best heard with a cocktail.

Kylee Phillips – “What Living’s Like”

Kylee Phillips describes her music as “self-help sad-babe pop” and her latest single is no exception. Blending an intricate, multi-layered production with her emotive, laser-focused voice, Kylee is one to watch in the midwest indie scene and we will definitely be keeping an eye out for her new album later this year.

Melø – “Falling Through Eternity”

Get ready to groove – MELØ’s music exists at the intersection of retro-futurism and indie pop, drawing much inspiration from the sounds of the 1980s. This latest single is by no means derivative, though – modern production techniques and a careful avoidance of trendy studio tricks and clichéd aesthetics ensure a fresh take that is both original and highly danceable. Nostalgic without feeling dated.

Sick Smile – “#takemeout(phone)”

Coming out of the deep tradition of rock music in Detroit, Sick Smile blends a hard rock edge with catchy, danceable pop and groove hooks on their latest single “#takemeout(phone)”

Louis Jones III – “PEEKABOO”

It’s hard not to move or be moved when Louis Jones III is behind the kit. His performance at the 2025 Detroit Jazz Festival in support of his 2025 album “Motions” was electric to say the least, and we’re fortunate to be able to relive it through this latest single and upcoming full album showcasing music from that very set. “PEEKABOO” is a driving, compelling showcase of Louis’ compositional and rhythmic prowess that captures the vibrant energy of a live audience.

Bushog – “That’s My Bologna”

With a characteristic sound described as “underground ‘GrouchCore’ punk/rock” the lead single from Bushog’s latest EP titled “Tasty Treats” falls right in line. Pork may be the main feature of the band’s album art, posters, and logos, but “That’s My Bologna” sees them expand their palate into mixed meat territory.

Parker Ouellette – “Girls That Drink Beer”

You may remember Parker Ouellette from the June edition of the CJAM Singles Club — his track with Willowbrook, “Drawn from Memory” was a sentimental, old-style country lament. This track showcases both his sense of humour and his clever lyric sensibility as a songwriter. “Girls That Drink Beer” holds a simple message that feels as good as an ice cold one on the weekend.
