Tune into The Great Show of Indifference for the special “Super Heavy Billy Idol” edition this Wednesday at 10:30 am and Friday at 2:30 pm.

With Idol checking into Detroit for his Friday gig at The Fillmore, DJ Vernon Smith will dig deep into the Idol catalogue for rarities, b-sides, soundtrack numbers, commercial failures, or just plain great jams that never caught the imaginations of mainstream radio. Smith will also enlist the help of fellow CJAM DJ Dave Konstantino, host of Revolution Rock, to discuss Idol’s new autobiography, “Dancing with Myself,” as well as Idol’s first full-length album in nine years, “Kings and Queens of the Underground.” Mostly, they will discuss the Idol re-evaluation that seems to be taking place in cultures – both mainstream and alternative – where Idol couldn’t help but emerge from as a divisive force to be reckoned with.

That’s “Super Heavy Billy Idol” this Wednesday at 10:30 am and Friday at 2:30 pm, only on CJAM 99.1 FM in Windsor-Detroit. Listeners can also tune in worldwide at cjam.ca, where they can download the show after the fact.
