Clarification

During the March 8, 2017 edition of Rose City Politics, a discussion took place regarding City Council’s decision to convert retail space into parking spaces in the Pelissier Street parking garage.

CJAM and Rose City Politics would like to issue the following clarification with respect to Abe Taqtaq, Rami Taqtaq, or any person acting on behalf of RamTaq Holdings Inc.:

1. The broadcast did not state or intend to imply that Abe Taqtaq has an ownership interest in RamTaq Holdings Inc.;

2. The broadcast did not state or intend to imply that any of the above named persons spoke to the mayor or any member of City Council regarding the parking garage conversion from retail space;

3. The broadcast did not state or intend to imply that any of the above named persons spoke to the mayor or any member of City Council to advise them of the ownership of the properties in question;

4. The broadcast did not state or intend to imply that any of the above named persons “had anything to say” about the conversion of retail space to parking spaces in the Pelissier Street parking garage;

5. The broadcast did not state or intend to imply any political connection between RamTaq Holdings Inc. and any of the Councillors who voted in favour of converting the retail spaces in the Pelissier Street parking garage; and

6. The broadcast did not state or intend to imply that any of the above named persons spoke to the mayor or any member of City Council to ask them to vote to convert retail units into parking spaces at the Pelissier Street parking garage.

CJAM and Rose City Politics are pleased to clarify the nature of the discussion and to address any misunderstandings that may have resulted from the broadcast.
